Ramadan Health Guide: Staying Fit While Fasting

Fast Healthy, Not Harmfully! 💪

Fasting is worship, but your body has rights too!

The problem: Health issues from poor Suhoor/Iftar, dehydration, no sleep.

The solution: Smart nutrition, hydration, and rest!

Suhoor Nutrition (Power Your Fast!)

Eat:
– ✅ Protein (eggs, yogurt, nuts) — sustained energy!
– ✅ Complex carbs (oats, whole wheat) — slow release!
– ✅ Fiber (fruits, veggies) — fullness!
– ✅ Water (2-3 glasses) — hydration!

Avoid:
– ❌ Salty (thirst!)
– ❌ Sugary (crash!)
– ❌ Caffeine (dehydration!)
– ❌ Fried (sluggish!)

Iftar Nutrition (Break Wisely!)

Sunnah: Dates (3) + water. Then pray Maghrib. Then eat!

Eat:
– ✅ Soup (hydrating, light!)
– ✅ Lean protein (chicken, fish!)
– ✅ Veggies (nutrients!)
– ✅ Water (rehydrate!)

Avoid:
– ❌ Overeating (you’ll regret at Taraweeh!)
– ❌ Too much fried (heavy!)
– ❌ Soda (sugar crash!)

Hydration (Critical!)

Between Iftar and Suhoor:
– 8-10 glasses water!
– Coconut water (electrolytes!)
– Avoid soda, excess caffeine!

Signs of dehydration: Headache, dizziness, dark urine.
Fix: Drink MORE (at non-fasting hours!).

Exercise in Ramadan

Best times:
1. After Iftar (1-2 hours later) — energy restored!
2. Before Suhoor (light only!)

What:
– ✅ Walking (30 min!)
– ✅ Light weights
– ✅ Stretching, yoga

Avoid:
– ❌ Intense cardio (while fasting!)
– ❌ Midday workouts (dehydration!)

Sleep (Non-Negotiable!)

Aim: 6-8 hours (split if needed!)
– Night: 11 PM – 4 AM (5 hours)
– Afternoon: 2 PM – 4 PM (2 hours nap!)

Qaylulah (afternoon nap) is Sunnah!

Common Issues (And Fixes)

Issue Cause Fix
Headache Caffeine withdrawal, dehydration Reduce caffeine pre-Ramadan, hydrate!
Constipation Low fiber, dehydration Fiber + water!
Fatigue Poor sleep, poor nutrition Sleep + balanced meals!
Heartburn Overeating, spicy Smaller meals, less spicy!
