Ramadan Day 16: Family in Ramadan — Worship Together

Day 16: Ramadan Is for Families! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

“O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from Hellfire” (66:6).

The problem: Individual worship, neglecting family.

The solution: Make Ramadan a FAMILY project!

Family Worship Ideas

1. Pray Together

  • Taraweeh at home (husband leads!)
  • Fajr together (wake the kids!)
  • Jumu’ah (go as a family!)

2. Quran Time

  • After Maghrib: 15 min family recitation
  • Kids recite, parents listen (and vice versa!)
  • Discuss one verse (Tadabbur together!)

3. Iftar Together

  • Cook together (kids help!)
  • Invite relatives/neighbors
  • Share — send plates to others!

4. Charity Together

  • Kids choose a cause
  • Family packs Iftar boxes
  • Donate together (teach generosity!)

Teaching Kids Ramadan

Ages 3-5:
– Let them “fast” until Dhuhr (half-fast!)
– Ramadan decorations (crescents, lanterns!)
– Stories (Prophet’s ﷺ Ramadan!)

Ages 6-10:
– Full fasts (gradually!)
– Quran (short surahs!)
– Taraweeh (part of it!)

Ages 11+:
– Full participation!
– Responsibility (help with Suhoor/Iftar!)
– Reflection (journal!)

The Family Halaqah (15 Minutes!)

After Isha (before Taraweeh):
1. Recite (1 page Quran, round-robin!)
2. Discuss (1 verse — what does it mean?)
3. Dua (each person makes 1 dua!)
4. Plan (tomorrow’s goals!)

15 minutes. Every night. Transformative!

For Spouses

Support each other:
– Take turns (Suhoor prep, kid duty)
– Encourage (not criticize!)
– Worship together (Tahajjud as a couple!)

Ramadan strengthens marriages — use it!
